Brick Front Steps & Gray Stone Treads

Project Overview

This front-entry project combines warm red-brick risers with broad gray treads and a smooth rendered base. The stairs lead toward a burgundy front door, with shrubs framing the entrance on both sides. The two supplied views capture the whole approach and a closer look at the landing, risers and tread edges.

The landing repeats the brick color at the top of the staircase, bordered by gray material at the outer edge. That relationship ties the entry surface to the stair faces below, while the rendered base gives the lower part of the assembly a quieter, continuous finish.

Analysis

The stair design relies on a clear distinction between horizontal and vertical surfaces. Each gray tread projects slightly beyond its brick riser, creating a defined edge. The brick faces are divided into visible courses with mortar joints, and the lower base is finished as a smooth gray plane rather than exposed brickwork.

The wider view shows how the staircase meets the existing concrete approach and sits between the planting beds. Caution tape remains across the front of the work area in both photographs, so the record describes the installed masonry details without claiming that the entrance had been released for use at that moment.

Process

  1. Whole-entry view: the first photograph records the stairs, door, planting beds and lower approach together.
  2. Masonry detail: the closer view records the tread projections, brick courses, landing pattern and rendered base.
  3. Documented work stage: caution tape is retained in the gallery as part of the supplied site condition, rather than edited out of the record.

Outcome

The photographed entry has a consistent red-and-gray masonry treatment from its rendered base to the top landing. The two views make the overall entrance composition and the tread-to-riser detailing easy to compare. They preserve the supplied work-stage context alongside the installed stair finishes.

Project Details

Materials Used

  • Red-brick stair risers and landing inlay.
  • Broad gray stone-like tread slabs with projecting edges.
  • Mortar joints between the visible brick courses.
  • Smooth gray render on the staircase base.
  • Existing concrete approach at the foot of the stairs.

Methods & Techniques

The visible assembly alternates gray horizontal tread surfaces with red-brick risers. Slightly projecting tread edges define each level, while the brick landing inlay is contained by a gray border. The rendered base creates a separate finish at the point where the stairs meet the approach.

Key Highlights

  • Red-brick risers paired with broad gray treads.
  • Brick landing detail beside the front door.
  • Smooth rendered base at the lower approach.
  • Wider entrance and close masonry views.
  • Original site condition preserved in the gallery.
