Brick Side-Entry Steps & Black Railings
Project Overview
These side-entry steps connect a white storm door to a lower brick-paved approach beside the house. Red-brick masonry forms the stair body, broad gray treads define the walking surfaces and black metal railings run along the exposed side. The supplied views show the entrance from the lower approach and from beside the raised landing.
The stair assembly sits in a narrow outdoor setting between the house wall, planting and utility equipment. Its combination of gray, red and black provides a clear outline within that compact space, with the railing following the stair pitch before turning around the landing.
Analysis
The visible stair body has a substantial brick side wall rather than an open stringer profile. The treads extend across that masonry body, and their gray edges remain visible above the red brick faces. At the top, the rail returns around the small entrance landing beside the storm door.
The railing uses straight vertical bars and a continuous sloped handrail, with upright supports aligned at the landing and lower stair end. The black finish contrasts with the white siding and gray tread surfaces. Close views also show the meeting between the masonry side wall, the stone bed and the brick paving at ground level.
Process
- Lower approach view: the first photograph records the full stair run, landing return and railing profile beside the white siding.
- Side view: the second photograph records the brick stair body and the relationship between the entry, paving, landscaping and nearby equipment.
- Detail coverage: both views retain the tread edges, railing supports and masonry joints as part of the same entry project.
Outcome
The documented entrance brings the raised side door and lower approach into one compact stair-and-railing assembly. The gray treads, red masonry and black railing are visible together from both angles, giving the project a complete exterior record rather than only a close-up of one component.
Project Details
Materials Used
- Red-brick stair body, risers and side wall.
- Broad gray tread and landing surfaces.
- Black metal handrails, upright supports and vertical bars.
- Existing brick paving at the lower approach.
- Stone ground covering beside the masonry wall.
Methods & Techniques
The visible work combines a closed masonry stair body with a separate metal railing assembly. The sloped rail follows the stairs, while the level section defines the upper landing. The tread edges and brick side wall create a continuous outline from the lower approach to the door.
Key Highlights
- Two angles of the same side entrance.
- Closed brick stair body with broad gray treads.
- Black railing following the stair pitch and landing.
- Compact relationship to the house, paving and planting.
